This print is based on my interpretation of a Japanese folkloric character Yokai Amabie. It is a legendary mermaid with a bird beak mouth and three legs and tail-fins, who allegedly emerges from the sea, prophesies an abundant harvest and the power to end the current epidemic. It instructed people to make copies of its likeness to defend against the epidemic.
